Had them connected to the Pioneer on the phono input before starting an LP and they were doing the same slow "in and out" that i always thought was the sign of DC. (they seemed to like the old Pioneer better but maybe i'm just playing favorites again) Thinking about finding a small amp and using them for computer speakers in the bedroom.ĮDIT: I don't think the Denon was giving it DC. Have them hooked to my Sansui 7K now and they fill the basement nicely. I have been trying to research them and see some specs and see what they could be worth but have not been able to find much. DLK Model 3s from a guy who said he bought them in 1970 and has had them since. Woofer might be damaged however, since i first had it hooked to a Denon and for a second it looked like it was suspiciously routing DC to it. I recently just got a great deal on a pair of Acoustical Productions Inc. Highs aren't overdone but clear and a respectable bass response for that size driver (4.5" for those curious) Xover in one seems to be getting a bit fiddly though, at lower volume levels sometimes the woofer will drop out and there is occasional bass distortion in that speaker. Well regardless they are a remarkably good sounding mystery speaker set. Popped a driver out and nothing but strange crumbly insulation and a coded serial number on the magnet. DLK was a speaker manufactured in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area during the mid 70s as a house brand for Schaak Electronics, now out of business. I tried peeling the label off but it is thoroughly stuck, careful scraping with a razor will probably separate it though. Trust your ears first and opinions/impressions second, you are the one that has to live with your choice.The more photos I look at of DLK material, the less I think these are DLK, despite the label on one. Definitely worth checking out for yourself. Very good sound stage with solid imaging. Impressive bass and a tube like smoothness to the mids and highs. The problem is the original owner painted them both black. ![]() Smaller 2 way ads with bigger woofer than the polks (cant remember the model number, maybe 710) sounded magical and warm. I have a pair of DLK Model 2 speakers myself. NHT Super One: My reference mid size bookshelf speaker. The model 2 speakers are rated to handle from 10 wpc minimum to 120 wpc maximum. With the 730 there was a synergy that I had not heard in the Dynaco's previously. I have the 'DLKs Got your number' color brochure in front of me.
